FOR EVERY USE THERE IS A ''SHELLAC"

DEWAXED DECOLOURISED SHELLAC

The resinous secretion of a tiny insect called Kerria Lacca is basically Natural Resin Lac. Once Natural Resin Lac is refined it is commonly known as Shellac. Shellac in available in different standards of quality and specifications. Shellac’s quality and specification purely depends on two main things.

The raw material which is used to finally make Shellac.
The process used to refine the raw material in order to obtain Shellac.

At our manufacturing unit, Shellac is manufactured from the best quality raw material and by using the best process in the market. We use solvent extraction system through activated carbon in order to get the best quality Shellac for our clients.

HAND MADE SHELLAC

Seedlac is filled into a long, narrow cloth bag. One end of the bag is held in front of the charcoal oven while the other end attached to a windlass is gradually turned. The molten lac is scraped out and mixed thoroughly to ensure uniformity and transferred to a block of molten lac on the surface of a smooth porcelain cylinder filled with hot water.

Standing in front of fire, the workman so manipulates the sheet as to heat it uniformly and then streches it with his hands, legs and mouth. It is pulled in all directions to produce a sheet of about 5'x4' with a varying thickness from 1/16" at edges to about 1/1000 of an inch in the center.

MACHINE MADE SHELLAC

We supply only good quality Machine Made Shellac. Machine Made Shellac can be produced in two ways- Heat Process and Solvent Process.

Heating Process : For obtaining Shellac from heating process hydraulic presses are used to filter pure lac. This pure molten lac is stretched by means of rollers so as to form long sheets from it, which is later broken into small flakes.

Solvent Process : In this method pure lac is obtained by solving lac into industrial alcohol. The solution is filtered and pure lac thus obtained is stretched to desired thickness by the use of roller. The solvent process gives itself chance to manufacture varying types of shellac containing different percentages of shellac wax. The wax obtained from this process may be as low as 0.2 %

PRODUCTS

SEEDLAC

We produce wide variety of Seedlac including genuine bysacki, fine bysacki, manbhum fin, bysacki manbhum, golden kumsi seedlac and golden kusumi. We use the finest process for synthesizing seed lac. Seedlac is first compressed and filtered to eradicate sand and dust. It is then washed in huge barriers to remove insect bodies and a portion of the coloring matter. Washing is done frequently until the dye and most of the impurities are removed. The Sticklac thus cleaned is spread on big clean open air floor to dry. After drying it is winnowed and sieved to get the commercial variety of Seedlac. It contains around 3-5% impurity. Seedlac is mostly used for conversion into Bleached Shellac and different types of Shellac.

ALEURITIC ACID

Civetone: Civetone is obtained from Shellac Aleuritic Acid, and is used for manufacturing of Perfumes. Civetone is fast growing and is very much in demand with perfume manufacturing companies such as France, Italy, Germany, USA etc.

Physical properties: White powder or granules
Moderately soluble in hot water and in lower alcohol such as methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol

Chemical properties:
Moisture 1% Acid value Melting point 90 to 98 depending upon requirement Molecular weight Specific gravity Chemical identification 9, 10, 16 tri-hydroxy palmitic acid

Uses and Applications:
Synthesis of fragrance is such as civetone, exaltone, ambrettolide and isoambrettolide. Synthesis of glucose manoaleuritate

The other suggested applications of aleuritic acid are the following:

Glucose manoaleuritate (a non-toxic non-hemolytic water-soluble compound) in medicine as an isocaloric substitute for dietary tripalmitin

Preparation of plastics with good adhesive properties by the condensation of aleurtic acid with Phthalic anhydride and glycerin, rosin etc

Aleuritic esters for compounding with cellulose esters for the preparation of lacquers, plastics and fibers.

DEWAXED BLEACHED SHELLAC

The basic procedure in the production of bleached shellac consists of dissolving seedlac in aqueous sodium carbonate solution at 90-100 degree celcius. This solution is then treated with sodium hydrochloride, cooled and filtered. The bleached shellac is reclaimed from the filtered solution with sulphuric acid. The precipitated bleached shellac is then filtered and washed with water for removal of acid and dried.Type your paragraph here.

Solubility: Dewaxed Bleached Shellac is easy to be dissolved in an Aqueous Alkaline solution. This is done at a temperature of 60 C on stirring. As far as solubility is concerned Dewaxed Bleached Shellac is soluble in solvents of hydroxyl group but insoluble in Glycerol, Palmitic Acid and Hydrocarbon. It is soluble in Ethanol, Menthanol, Propanol, Formic etc.

Storage: Dewaxed Bleached Shellac can be stored in Cold storage rooms, A.C. rooms or cool places. This is imperative in order to maintain its powder form.
